Coaching is probably the wrong word for it!
I prefer to think of it as being a catalyst for change!
Unlike a coach in sport, my role is not to drive you, for you to rely on me and my VAST stores of knowledge and experience (I'll let you into a secret, there are no VAST stores, just strategies).
My role is to find out what you want, what you need to do to get it and what have you got to get you there!

We all know why our kids don’t do their homework…
Or don't do well at their exams…
Or do we?
Think back to your own childhood, which subjects did you do well in, and which did you not?
In addition to helping your child with the homework, I will also find out how to get your child more engaged with learning… finding out the reasons why they want to do it is far better than bullying them into it!
The difference being, if the teacher hasn’t engaged them and enthused them, why is another teaching tutor going to do any different? Once the tutor has gone, does their influence evaporate with them?
As well meaning and loving parents, there is a temptation to know best and, for want of a better word, nag kids into doing stuff… Who do you do the best work for, the boss who values your independence, engages you with interesting tasks as well as the more mundane, or the boss who nags you to do this and that and never seems to be satisfied?
My unique style gets you on board this learning process… and I will spend some time with you finding out what you want for the child and how you can support them in getting it. This is not advice, you know more than me about your child and you are motivated to find out about what is best for them. I am just here to help you develop you strategies for assisting. Flashing the cash doesn’t get you off the hook with this tutor! You are an integral part of your child’s learning, do what you can to support it. (And this doesn’t mean holding their hand through life or supervising homework, this is about a little effort in the right direction).
What do I know anyhow?
I am a cycling instructor who has to keep kids engaged in an environment (the road) that most teachers think I am mad taking them!
I am a life coach - people come to me with all the answers (like you and your kids) but don’t know how to access them, or make poor choices based on what they think they want. I help access the answers, make good decisions and develop strategies.
I am a supply/cover supervisor who knows that it is engaging the kids, not shouting at them that matters.
I have been there! I know what motivated me, I know what didn’t and I know that if we don’t address the ‘why should I do it’ of education, then results will be elusive and short lived…
Do something different… don’t get a tutor, get a ‘kidcoach’.
